Global Talent Visa Program

The Global Talent Visa Program, also known as the Global Talent Independent Program, is a streamlined visa pathway for highly skilled professionals to work and live permanently in Australia.

Australia is after the brightest and best global talent to work in seven future-focused sectors. The program is designed to help grow our innovation and tech economies. This will create opportunities for Australians by transferring skills, promoting innovation, and creating jobs.

Australia is also a lifestyle destination, and one of the most prosperous, safe, and culturally diverse countries in the world. Australia offers opportunities for innovation, with strong trading links and a business-friendly regulatory approach. Through the program, talented individuals will be given permanent residency to make their new lives in Australia.

Keeping in line with the recent Migration Planning level, the 2022-23 Migration planning level also has allocated 8,448 allocations for the Global Talent Visa.

The Global Talent Visa Program, allocation tripled (15,000) from that of 2019-20 FY in the last 2 years and currently is 8000+ which is still more than pre-pandemic level which was only 5000.

Only 3536 Global Talent visas were granted during the 2021-22 Financial Year from 15,000 allocations. Albeit, the allocation for this FY is 8,448, there are plenty of room for applicants to lodge an application. There are currently 10 target sectors for Global Talent visa with the a broad range of occupations which can be classified under this sector.

Eligibility for Global Talent Visa

Prove you are internationally recognised, with evidence of outstanding achievements.
Still be prominent in your field of expertise.
Provide evidence that you would be an asset to Australia, in your area of expertise.
Have no difficulty obtaining employment in Australia or becoming established in your field
Have a recognised organisation or individual in Australia in the same field as you endorse you as global talent.

Places are also available to certain PhD students who can demonstrate exceptional talent and international recognition.

High income threshold for Global Talent Visa

Candidates should have the ability to attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high income threshold of AUD158,500.

Once you complete a self assessment and are eligible for GTI nomination assessment, you can apply to Engineers Australia to support your nomination.
