PR Pathway Visa for Childcare Workers
1. Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482) - Core Skills Stream
This visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can't source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.
Eligibility
be nominated to work in an occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL)
have at least 1 year relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field
have a relevant skills assessment if this is required for your occupation
work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless you are exempt
meet minimum standards of English language proficiency unless you are exempt from needing to show this
With this visa, you can
work in Australia for up to 4 years or up to 5 years if you are a Hong Kong passport holder
travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while the visa is valid
if eligible, apply for permanent residence
After working for your employer full-time for at least two years, you can transition to permanent residency if you’re nominated by your employer for the 186 Visa under the Temporary Residence Transition stream. Learn more about Skills in Demand here.
2. Employer Nomination Scheme visa (Subclass 186) - Direct Entry Stream
This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by an employer, live and work in Australia permanently.
Eligibility
have an occupation that is on the list of eligible skilled occupations (CSOL)
have at least 3 years relevant work experience, unless you are exempt
have a positive skills assessment, unless you are exempt
With this visa, you can
live, work and study in Australia indefinitely
sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible
Being on the CSOL means childcare workers can apply for the 186 visa directly if nominated by their employer.
