Teaching has been a priority and in-demand occupation across Australia. Lot of applicants received PR invitations lately for skilled migration (subclass 189) and across different states.
There are two main criterion to attain a positive skills assessment as an "
Early Childhood Teacher" and  "Secondary School Teacher". You may be able to attain a positive skills assessment without English score.

Skills Assessment

Criterion 1 : Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum of 4 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) higher education (university) level study that results in qualification/s.

  • At least 1 year full-time (or part-time equivalent) higher education level study of Early Childhood  Teacher initial teacher education

Criterion 2 : English Language Proficiency

Option 1Completion of at least 4 full years of study (or part-time equivalent) in higher education (university) in Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America resulting in qualification/s comparable to the educational level of an Australian Bachelor degree or higher.

Option 2

An Academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Test Report Form (TRF) that shows a score of

at least 7.0 for both Reading and Writing; and,

a score of at least 8.0 for both Speaking and Listening.

The IELTS test must be undertaken during the 24 month period prior to submitting an application.

To meet the option 1 of Criterion 2, you need to study 4 years in Australia at a higher Level. Do note, that not all higher level courses are accredited to me us these years. You need to be wary of the course you choose. If you fall short for a year, you can consider taking up this 1 Year Graduate Diploma of Management course.

About Early Childhood Course

Do you need to work as a Teacher to be eligible to apply for PR?
No. We have had a lot of successful migration visa grants for Early Childhood Teachers lately who were not working in their field. Applicants invited with only 65 points with only 1 month of cut-off time from the EOI lodgment date.

Can you study online?
Yes; if you are currently holding TR485, you can do the course completely online; however, there is a 2-month placement at the end of the 10 months, which you need to attend in person.

Do you need High English score to be able to lodge your PR application?
Not necessarily. If you have studied in Australia at a higher Level for 4 years, you do not need to meet the minimum English requirement. These 4 years could be 3 Years of Bachelor + 1 Year of Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood course.

What if you have a Master here and do not meet the 4 year study requirement for English exemption?
If you want to get an exemption from the English requirement, you can do a 1 Year Graduate Diploma of Management starting from only $6,500.

How much points do you need to receive a PR invitation?
We can not guarantee how much points you will be needing. But the trend and the demand continue to look promising, as at RACC, we have been consistently receiving invitations with only 65 points.

How can I get to 65 points?
There are so many factors in the points-tested system. Just an illustration of someone who is 25 years old and finished a Bachelor course in Australia, and is currently holding a TR485, points could be:

  • Age: 30 points

  • English: 10/20 points

  • Qualification: 15 points

  • 2 Years study in Australia: 5 points

  • CCL (Translation exam): 5 points

  • Relationship status: 5/10 points

Even if we count a minimalistic way, you may easily attain 70 points.

Victorian Government's plan for the Early Childhood Sector

The Australian Government will provide $1.7 billion over 3 years from 2022-23 (and $671.2 million per annum ongoing from 2025-26) to assist families with more than one child under six in childcare and reduce out-of-pocket costs.

A new $2 billion, 4-year national reform commitment will be established to strengthen the delivery of preschool and better prepare children to start school.

Government’s plan locks in ongoing Australian Government funding beyond 2025, with reforms to be agreed with all states and territories to lift preschool attendance and outcomes.

The Victorian Government is investing almost $5 billion over the decade to deliver Three-Year-Old Kindergarten. This investment will create an additional 6,000 teaching jobs across Victoria.
