Visitor Visas are for people who want to visit or extend their stay in Australia for holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, or for a short business visit.

Visitor Visa (subclass 600)

Tourist Stream

This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist,

to see family and friends or,
for purposes other than business or medical treatment.
You can study up to 3 months with tourist visa.

How long you can stay

This is a temporary visa.

You can stay for the period or dates specified on the visa grant letter. The length of the tourist visa is determined on a case by case basis. Things which are generally considered when determining your stay period include:

how long the applicant wants to stay and,
why the applicant wants to stay in Australia

The length the applicant requests may not be granted and the tourist visa can be granted with single or multiple entry.

For multiple entry, the applicant can leave and return to Australia on the visa while it is valid.

Generally, the visa is granted for a stay period of 3 months but up to 12 months of stay may be granted in certain circumstances.

Business Visitor Stream

This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons. You can make a short visit for business visitor reasons, but you can't work or sell goods or services. This visa has to be applied offshore.
